THE FOUNDER—ENNI VARNÄS
I’m Enni Varnäs, the creative force behind Ennisance. My lifelong fascination with textiles, patterns, and color has always been intertwined with a deep admiration for history and art.
Growing up, I spent countless hours at the piano, which nurtured my love for artistic expression—particularly the elegance of the 1700s, an era that still inspires my work today. In fact, the tradition of hand-painted wallpapers traces back to that very century, when European manor houses replaced woven tapestries with exquisite silk paintings. At Ennisance, I preserve that legacy, crafting wallpapers using the same centuries-old techniques.
Though my academic path led me to business and economics—I hold a master’s degree in the field—my heart always belonged to art. A profound connection to traditional Chinese painting further deepened my passion, a bond I shared with my grandmother, herself an artist and a devoted admirer of this timeless craft.
Eight years ago, I began laying the foundation for my own wallpaper collection. Countless sketches, color studies, and collaborations with master artisans later, I unveiled the Sörmland Collection in December 2022—inspired by the serene beauty of my garden in the Swedish countryside. Today, alongside our signature designs, we craft entirely bespoke creations for discerning clients worldwide, each piece a testament to the enduring artistry of hand-painted luxury.
